Week 1 – Telling Others

Read Acts 1 verses 1 – 11

1. Good News is for sharing

There are 4 separate accounts of the Good News – which implies that ALL the world needs to hear it.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the ‘subject’ of this Good News

People rather than angels were given the responsibility of sharing it with others

What is the ‘Story’ you have to tell? (See Mark 5 verses 18 – 20)

2. Be a witness (verse 8)

When Christ talks about us being His witnesses it makes you think of a court room.  “If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”

The Greek word for ‘witness’ is the word from which we get the word ‘martyr’ – the two ideas are linked aren’t they?

What have you ‘seen, heard and experienced’?

Remember ‘Hear say’ evidence is not admissible.

How useful is ‘Second hand’ evidence?

3. The first requirement (verse 8)

Receiving POWER – The Holy Spirit ‘helps’ and ‘motivates’ us.

4. The Simple Plan (verse 8)

The plan – Jerusalem – Judea – Samaria – The ends of the earth
Pray – For specific people – For opportunities – for boldness
Meet needs – ‘People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care’.
Make Friends – A widening circle of friends gives a widening circle of influence and opportunities.
Sow the Seed – Never forget how life-giving and valuable God’s Word is.
