Job Description

The position of pastor at MREC is an exciting opportunity to help shape the vision and lead the church into the future for the glory of God and the growth of His kingdom. It presents an opportunity to mentor and teach God’s people to be sharers of His good news for mankind, in line with our mission statement that we want people to KNOW, GROW and SHOW how Jesus is alive and active in the world today.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, encouragement and oversight for the church alongside the Elders team.

  • Preach God’s word faithfully from the scripture and in line with our statement of faith on a regular basis at our All Age services.

  • Model and encourage prayer within the church.

  • Teach the scriptures in varied settings including midweek activities.

  • Provide, facilitate and organise pastoral care for people within the church in line with the church safeguarding policy.

  • Help identify, develop and encourage people’s gifts within the church. Give training and guidance as needed.

  • Have a heart to see the community reached with the gospel.

  • Oversee the youth and children’s ministries, in an active or supporting role.

  • Develop new ministries to enhance the life of the church and reach the community.

  • Pursue further development opportunities to learn and enhance your ministry.

  • Oversee the administration of the church and its works.

Character

  • Demonstrate a clear testimony of faith and devotion to Christ and His church.

  • Exemplify biblical leadership qualities of an elder/ overseer 1 Tim 3 v 1 -7, Titus 1 v 5 – 9, and 1 Peter 5 v 1 -5.

  • Maintain a strong devotional life of worship, prayer and personal study of God’s word.

  • Live out and teach a lifestyle of devotion to biblical standards of morality, ethics and the fruit of the Spirit.

  • Serve the church as Shepherd with a servant leadership style of humility, compassion, wisdom, honesty, integrity and unity.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, being able to relate to all age groups.

  • Be an effective communicator.

Qualifications

  • Be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of your life.

  • Fulfil the biblical qualifications of 1 Tim 3 v 1- 7 and Titus 1 v 5 – 9.

  • Demonstrate sound understanding of Biblical doctrine and practice.

  • Have a proven track record of Pastoral care.
